20230630_112340.jpg

iCLEM (Introductory College Level Experience in Microbiology) is a 7-week, paid high-school internship program targeted to rising juniors and seniors from underrepresented, low-income backgrounds in Alameda, Contra Costa, or San Francisco Counties. Students gain experience in state-of-the-art labs at the Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI), and receive a stipend of $3000.

iCLEM connects students with high-school teachers, undergraduate students majoring in science at UC institutions, and research advisors at JBEI, exposing them to the industry field of microbiology. Students are further immersed through industry field trips and career exploration workshops to prepare for the college admissions process.
